Circular design
2 billion litres of beer. Then what?
In France last year, more than 2 billion litres of beer were drunk · that's 600,000 tonnes of spent grain, the solid residue from brewing. An ecological and logistical headache for brewers.
Faced with material shortages, dwindling resources and petrochemical solutions, we set out to rethink the way furniture is designed.
That's why we created a new recovery channel: cost-effective for brewers, good for the planet and innovative for interiors.
Balt®
The Balt®, Malt Wood.
A blend of brewers' spent grain · the grain left over from brewing beer · and bio-based food packaging that France cannot recycle today.
Together, these two create our material. The Balt®: an eco-material that is 100% bio-based and 100% recycled.
Like beer, it comes in several colours: brown, blond, white, amber, stout and marbled.
